Basic Vitreo Retinal Surgical Training
Duration: 4 Weeks
Places available: One in each session.
Selection: The applicant should be a practicing Ophthalmologist with special interest in Vitreo Retina. Applicant should be a very good
Anterior Segment surgeon with adequate knowledge on Vitreo retina. Application should also have very good indirect Ophthalmoscopic Skills and should have the
experience of assisting a Vitreoretinal surgeon for atleast 50-100 Surgeries.
Having a background knowledge and experience on Vitreoretina is mandatory for attending this course.
Application procedure: Applications must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae, a copy of the applicant’s degree /diploma certificates, passports.

The programme focuses on
Retinal Diagnostics – Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, FFA, OCT.
Retinal Lasers- Supervised Guidance and Training on using of various Retinal Lasers.
Retinal Surgeries- Supervised Guidance in Vitreoretinal Surgeries.
The course is aimed at providing training to aspiring Ophthalmologists in Posterior Vitrectomies.
This course is aimed at the anterior segment surgeon who wants to start the subspeciality of Vitreo retina .
This course will be the stepping stone in becoming a VR surgeon.
Training will be provided in posterior vitrectomies performed for various indications.
Advanced Vitreoretinal Training.

Programme: The Advanced program is aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of practicing Ophthalmologists or aspiring doctors
who are interested in Vitreo Retinal Surgeries.
The goal of the fellowship training program is to impart skills in the management of medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina.
Opportunities to do handson training of various VR surgeries with main focus on Sutureless 23 G Vitrectomy will be provided.
Clinical: Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, Fundus Biomicroscopy (90D/78D).
Diagnostics: Fundus Photography, Fluorescein Angiography, Ultrasonography, OCT
Laser: Use of slit lamp and Indirect Ophthalmoscope delivery modes for laser treatment of retinal disorders, PDT.
Supervised Guidance and Training
Supervised Guidance and Training for One Month Trainees will be provided in
– 23 Guage Sutureless Vitrectomy
Candidates who can stay for longer durations ( 1 Year ) will be trained in
- Scleral Buckling
- Vitreous Surgery for Complicated Retinal Detachment
- Vitreous Surgery for Vascular Retinopathy
- Lensectomy
- Medical & Surgical Management of Endophthalmitis
We lay emphasis on training the applicant in all above said surgeries, but this purely depends on the availability of cases.
